TRINITY WEEKLY BULLETIN - Week commencing 3rd March 2025

Whole School Updates

World Book Day

World Book Day this year is on Thursday 6th March. We invite all children (and staff) to dress up on the day in book-inspired costumes. In addition to dressing up, we will also be doing our traditional extreme reading competition.

Back again by popular demand is our extreme reading competition. This year our Year 6 Reading Champions have added a theme: the great outdoors. If your child would like to enter, please send a photo of your children reading in an unusual place outdoors to cnewman@trinityprimaryschool.org by Tuesday 5th March. We will celebrate all of the entries in assembly on Wednesday 6th March and a prize will be awarded for the best photo from each key stage.

HYF Run

It's not too late to sign up for the Henley Youth Festival Run, taking place on Saturday 8th March at Henley Rugby Club. The deadline for registering is Wednesday 5th March.

Please CLICK HERE to register.

Class photo updates

Just a reminder that teachers are sharing photos of what the children have been up to each week on the school website. Please visit your child's class page:

www.trinityprimaryschool.org/classupdates

If your child is not appearing in these photos, it might be because you have previously refused consent. If you wish to change your mind, please email office.3254@trinity.oxon.sch.uk

Swimarathon

The Swimarathon at Gillotts Leisure Centre is taking place on Saturday 22nd March, from 2.40-3.20pm. Children will swim in the style of a relay, one length at a time with a rest in between, for the duration of 40 minutes. Anyone can sign up, as long as they can swim one full length without aids. So far, we have four teams participating (33 children), but there are still spaces for another 15 children. If your child is interested, please sign them up by CLICKING HERE

All sponsorship money raised will be split between The Lions Club of Henley and Trinity Primary School, and we will be putting the money towards more large play equipment for the playground (see image at the bottom of this bulletin).

We have managed to raise over £3,000.00 already from various events and we have the opportunity to add to this pot if children from the Maidenhead Swimarathon attend the President's Cup awards ceremony on Friday 28th March. If your child swam in the January Swimarathon and is able to attend, please CLICK HERE

A huge thank you to everyone for their contributions so far and to the children for their hard work in our recent sporting fundraising activities. We are all very excited to see what we can get to improve the children's playground fun.

Royal Academy of Arts Young Artists’ Summer Show - deadline 5th March

This is a fantastic opportunity for children aged 4 to 18 to express their creativity and showcase their artwork on a national stage. The Young Artists’ Summer Show celebrates the imagination and talent of young people across the UK.

There is no set theme, so children can submit any artwork which truly reflects their individuality and artistic voice. Submissions can include drawing, painting, printing, photography, sculpture, textile, fashion, animation, video, or anything else that showcases their creativity!

How to Submit:

  • Who can submit artwork: Parents, carers, or teachers can submit artwork on behalf of the child.
  • Deadline: 5th March
  • Submission link: CLICK HERE
  • Permission form and guidelines: CLICK HERE to download the forms from our website

Each submission must include a good-quality image or video of the artwork along with a short description. Selected works will be exhibited online, and some will be displayed at the Royal Academy of Arts in London — a truly inspiring achievement for any young artist!

Help needed for Year 6 SATs in May (and mocks in March)

We are in need of parents who might be available to support the administration of our Year 6 SATs this year. During the assessments, some pupils are eligible for additional support through access arrangements such as a scribe, a reader, rest breaks or additional time. This year we have a number of pupils who can benefit from this provision to provide them with the opportunity to complete the assessments to the very best of their abilities. In order to facilitate this individual provision, it does require a number of additional adults.

We are looking for support for our mocks SATs week - week beginning 10th March and also the real SATs week - week beginning 12th May. On the Monday and Wednesday there are two papers so support would be required between 9am and 12pm and on the Tuesday and Thursday there is just one paper so support would be required between 9am-10.30am.

For any parents who are able to volunteer, we will provide training about how you can support the pupil you are working with and the guidance provided by the DfE. If you are able to help with this, please contact Miss Hart directly - chart@trinityprimaryschool.org. We'd be very grateful for any parent support.

Bike / scooter photos

We have started our new LMTW topic on Bicycles through the ages. Please email a photograph or a video of your child on or riding a bicycle or scooter, so they can share the picture or video with the class - bryon@trinityprimaryschool.org or jeffers@trinityprimaryschool.org

Morning snack

We always provide a piece of fruit / vegetables for children at morning break. However, we are finding that for some children this isn't sufficient. Please can you make sure children are having a substantial, healthy breakfast at home and if your child still feels hungry they are welcome to bring in an additional piece of fruit.  Please only send fruit or vegetables, not items such as yo-yo's / Bear paws / fruit winders.  This is totally optional if your child is complaining of being hungry mid-morning.

Lunch choices

To avoid unnecessary upset, please discuss lunch options with your child, ahead of making a choice on their behalf.

Mayor of Henley Bronze Award

A message from Miss Hart: I wanted to say a huge well done to your children for all their hard work and determination throughout the time they have been completing the Bronze MoH Award. Children have been learning to cook, supporting in care homes, litter picking, learning to swim, going on long runs and cycles, raising money for charity to name just a few! They should all be very proud of themselves. They were also fantastic during our recent expedition around the area; they were a credit to our school.

Finally, thank you to you. Without your support the children wouldn't have been able to do all that they have. Thank you to our volunteers as well who helped us navigate around the streets of Henley during our walk.

If you have any further evidence to send please do put it on the google classroom or send it to me directly (chart@trinityprimaryschool.org). The children will receive their certificate later in the year and information about the Silver MoH will follow early next academic year.

Workshop for Year 5

During the Henley Youth Festival the children in Year 5 will be having a workshop with the artist Emily Cooling on Tuesday 18th March. In preparation for this, Emily has asked the children to collect some recycled materials to help them learn about how waste can be turned into art. During their workshop the children will be making headdresses/ crowns focused on this year's theme of growing.

Please can the children bring in the items they have collected on Monday 17th and Tuesday 18th March. We kindly ask that parents do not bring these materials in prior to these dates as we have limited space to store them in the classrooms.

Suggested recycled materials include:

  • Plastic green bottles
  • Plastic bags
  • Plastic food trays
  • Wrapping papers, gift wrap, any coloured papers/card.
  • Ribbons,
  • Crisp packets, sweet wrappers
  • Fruit nets
  • Packing
  • Bubble wrap
  • Shiny things/old xmas decorations/milk bottle tops/
  • Anything green as we're doing plantlife.
  • Old flower or greenery garland/fake flowers etc.

Football match (Year 5 boys)

Mrs Evans has sent an email to relevant parents about Year 5 boys football at Oratory School on Wednesday 26th March. If your son is one of the selected children please complete the google form to confirm his attendance, or advise Mrs Evans if unable to accept the place so it can be offered to another child on the waiting list.

Doodle maths (Year 6)

We are really pleased to let you know that we are now using Doodle to enhance, enrich and consolidate your child's learning in maths.

What is Doodle?  Doodle builds confidence in maths by creating every child a personalised work programme tailored to their strengths and weaknesses. Using Doodle for just 10 minutes a day is proven to have a significant  impact on maths attainment.

How do we access Doodle?  Doodle can be accessed via an app or through the website. Your child has been given an information sheet today with details about how to log in and also how parents/carers can link to their accounts which means you'll be able to view their progress.

Doodle will be rolled out across the whole school in the Summer term but we wanted to give our Year 6 children quick access as they prepare for their SATs in May. We'd really appreciate your support with encouraging the children to use Doodle as regularly as possible.

**Any child who was on today's Junior Citizens trip will get their login details first thing on Monday morning.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact Miss Newman on crewman@trinityprimaryschool.org.

Hoodies (Year 6)

Please remind children that hoodies are only to be worn on PE days.

Gillotts pioneer dates (Year 6)

Gillotts have confirmed the 17th and 18th June as Trinity's pioneer dates for our current Year 6 pupils who are planning to move to Gillotts in September 2025. Further details will follow in due course, but you may like to make a note of these dates.
