TRINITY WEEKLY BULLETIN - Week commencing 24th March

Whole School Updates

Playground equipment - only to be used during school hours

Please be reminded that the playground equipment is strictly out of bounds to children and siblings before and after school. The children should all know that this is one of our school rules. Thank you for your support with this.

Swimarathon Sponsorship Link

If you are in a position to support our swimmers, please CLICK HERE for our Just Giving page. Please note sponsorship is for the whole team not individuals and it all goes towards our fundraising target of buying new playground equipment.

Teaching Children Resilience - Free Talk

We would like to share details of a free talk, taking place on Thursday 5th June at 7pm at St Mary's Prep School:

Resilience: Help your child bounce back from life's hiccups

Please see the flyer at bottom of this Bulletin for details of how to register.

School Mural in the Press

Henley Herald have published an article about our recently painted school mural. Artist Gemma Henderson, who kindly painted the design, along with her father Paul commented ''My father and I were honoured to be part of this project. Teddy did an incredible job creating a vibrant and colourful piece of art that beautifully represents culture, friendship, diversity and inclusivity within the school. It truly encapsulates the spirit of our community and reflects our school’s vision. It’s wonderful that the children get to see this artwork every day, reminding them to always ask, ‘Who is my neighbour?’ and inspiring them to flourish." CLICK HERE to read the full article.

Water bottles

Please do not send children to school with glass water bottles. As the weather gets warmer, it's really important that all children bring a named water bottle to school.

School website

Unfortunately, we are still having issues with our website, but our secondary website is up and running and you can find anything you need here - www.trinityprimaryschoolhenley.co.uk

Early Years (Reception)

Beale Park Trip - parent helpers needed

On the 15th May there is a school trip planned for all Reception children to visit Beale Park. However, for the trip to go ahead we need a lot of parent helpers. We will depart school at 9:00am and return by 3:00pm. If you are able to accompany us, please CLICK HERE and Mrs Leppard will be in touch.

Key Stage 1 (Years 1 & 2)

Multi-skills Festival (Year 2)

Anyone who has signed up for the multi-skills festival on Tuesday 25th March has got a confirmed place. Thank you to the adults who have said they can accompany us. Please remember named water bottles and hats / sun cream if the weather looks especially warm.

Lower Key Stage 2 (Years 3 & 4)

Costumes and dance

Please can all children make sure they have costumes in school on Monday 24th March. Thank you! It would also be great if children could practice the All Rise dance, which can be found on Google Classroom.

Upper Key Stage 2 (Years 5 & 6)

Swimming for Year 5

All primary schools must provide swimming and water safety lessons in either Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2. Each pupil is required to be able to perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations, swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres, and use a range of strokes effectively.

As part of the PE Curriculum at Trinity, we will be taking the Year 5 children swimming at Henley Leisure Centre on the following Tuesdays: 29th April, 6th, 13th and 20th May

There is no cost to parents for these swimming lessons.

All children will be assessed on their swimming ability in the first lesson - it would be very helpful for us to know in advance if your child is a non-swimmer and/or a very nervous swimmer.  All ability levels will be accommodated. Boys and girls will swim as separate groups.

Children in Group 1 will leave Trinity promptly at 09:50 to walk to Henley Leisure Centre. Children in Group 2 will leave Trinity promptly at 10:30. Children will return to school in time for lunch.

Consent

We must have your consent for your child to be able to participate in the swimming lessons, so please complete the Google form via this link by Friday 4th April at the latest:  https://forms.gle/Vfvv6JtXrb5x8gTN8

Parent Volunteers

We do need help to walk the children to and/or from Gillotts Leisure Centre, so please tick the box on the form if you are able to help. Miss Kirton will then be in touch with you directly via email to discuss timings. Ideally you would stay and walk the children back, but please still volunteer even if you can only walk them one way.

Swimming Kit

Children should bring a named swimming bag with appropriate swimwear, a swimming hat, goggles if they prefer and a large towel. A healthy, nut-free snack can also be brought. If children need armbands, these will be provided by Gillotts Leisure Centre.

Long hair must be tied back and all children must wear a swimming hat. Jewellery, including earrings, anklets and necklaces should be removed at home before coming to school. Boys must wear swimming trunks because loose fitting trunks can be dangerous and hinder a child’s swimming ability.  For medical reasons only (e.g eczema) children are allowed to wear t-shirts. These should be of a light material.

Children will not be allowed to swim if they are not wearing sensible swimming trunks or full swimsuits (no bikinis), if they are not wearing a swimming hat or if they are wearing any jewellery which cannot be removed before the lesson.

The swimming lessons are an excellent opportunity for your child to learn / develop this important life skill and we hope that they will enjoy the experience.

Doodle Maths (Year 6)

Following on from Miss Newman's email, please can we remind parents that children should ideally be doing Doodle Maths assignments for 10-15 minutes per day. If you have any queries, please email your child's teacher.
