For parents of Year 1 and any Year 2’s retaking the Phonics Screening Check this year

This session will provide parents with information about the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check, including what it involves, how it is carried out, and how we prepare children for it in school. Parents will learn about the different phonics phases, how children use their phonic knowledge to decode words (both real and pseudo/‘alien’ words), and the types of activities that support reading development. We will also share practical ideas for supporting phonics and early reading at home, helping children build confidence and enjoyment as readers.
