TRINITY WEEKLY BULLETIN - Week commencing 22nd September 2025

Whole School Updates

Food bank donations

As a school community, we would love to make a donation to our local Food Bank. If you are able, please consider sending in non-perishable food and essential items with your children to their class.  We will be collecting these donations in classrooms until Wednesday 1st October when they will be taken across to the church to be displayed as part of Trinity's Harvest Festival church service.

Cross Country events

The next cross country event will be held on Saturday 4th October at MECE from 10:00am. This will be the first of the Winter Series where, if we have at least three runners from each year group, we have a chance of bringing home the Winter Series Trophy. So gather your friends and make a commitment to at least one of the races (4th October, 8th November and 6th December) – you do not have to attend every event.

Sacred Heart are also doing a cross country event on Sunday 19th October, which is open to Trinity pupils and Trinity won last year. See flyer at the bottom of this Bulletin.

Reading Wishlists

We want every child to have access to the wonderful books on the Reading Challenge and we need your help to make this possible. Each year group now has a LoveReading4Kids wishlist (links can be found below), and we would be so grateful for any book donations so that several children can enjoy the same book at once.

As Mrs Whittle mentioned in her welcome back letter, instead of bringing sweets as a birthday treat, families might like to consider donating a book. Choosing one from your child’s year group wishlist would make the gift extra special.

Even better, if you purchase directly through LoveReading4Kids, 25% of the cost is donated back to Trinity, helping us to reinvest in even more books for the future. Thank you for supporting our Reading Challenge and helping us to inspire a lifelong love of reading across the school!

Key Stage 1 (Years 1 & 2)

Tag Rugby Festival Cancelled

We have reluctantly had to pull out of the Tag Rugby Festival on 30th September as the venue changed to Harpsden Cricket Club and we cannot safely walk the children to this venue (lack of pavements). There will be a Tag Rugby Festival in November which we hope to attend instead.

Reading Books

On Friday, the children will be bringing home their first reading book for this academic year.
  • Children in Year 1 who do phonics with Miss Rolfe and Mrs Woolfson will receive a Phase 3 reading book.
  • Children in Year 2 who do phonics with Miss Rolfe will receive a Phase 5 reading book.
  • We are aware that the children may have read these books previously. The purpose of re-reading these books is to consolidate the children’s blending and fluency skills.
  • Children in Mrs Evans’s spellings group will receive a book banded book.
The teachers have carried out assessments to ensure your child has been given the correct level of reading book and this will be reviewed throughout the year.

The children are expected to read their reading book out loud to an adult every day. It has been proven that reading the same book several times a week develops children’s fluency, automaticity and comprehension skills. Please record, in your child’s yellow reading record book, when you have listened to them read at home. Every little bit of reading at home makes a big difference!
Please ensure your child brings their reading book and reading record into school everyday.

Doodle Maths

Please continue to encourage your child to use Doodle Maths regularly. Just 10 minutes a day has been proven to have a significant impact on a child’s maths attainment.

Lower Key Stage 2 (Years 3 & 4)

Mayor of Henley (Year 4)

We are delighted to be able to offer the Bronze Mayor of Henley Award to any child in Year 4. If you would like to find out more about this opportunity, Miss Hart will be holding an information evening on Thursday 9th October at 3.30pm. In the meantime, if you would like to know more, please follow this link to the school's website: www.trinityprimaryschool.org/moh

Labelling

Please make sure water bottles and snack containers are labelled with your child's name.

Upper Key Stage 2 (Years 5 & 6)

Doodle Maths

Please continue to encourage your child to use Doodle Maths regularly. Just 10 minutes a day has been proven to have a significant impact on a child’s maths attainment.
