LMTW Homework
Our new LMTW topic is Come fly with me. We will be looking into different countries.
In Communication and Language
Children can explore social phrases in other languages from around the world. Children could also share greetings in other languages they know.
In Personal, social and Emotional
Invite children to talk about items that are special to them that they would take on an adventure around the world, such as a favourite toy. Invite them to talk about their ideas and consider the feelings of others.
In Physical Development
Pretend to on a role-play journey around the world your child can create movements to represent different types of transport for their journey, such as cars, bikes, aeroplanes, submarines and boats.
In Literacy
Talk and show your child a postcard as your child to write a sentence about what they can see in the pictures. Children could also write a simple message on their postcards.
In Mathematics
Use a container to create a small world boat. Count ten small world people onto the boat for a world cruise. Explore number bonds to ten by moving the passengers on and off the boat.
In Understanding of the world
Invite your child to become an explorer by looking at a variety of world maps, atlases and globes. Provide magnifying glasses for children to use and invite them to talk about what they can see.
In Expressive Art and Design
Play music from different places around the world. Invite children to listen to the music and talk about how it makes them feel. Invite them to create movements in response to the music. They could perform their favourite dances at a ‘world dance’ show.
