TRINITY WEEKLY BULLETIN - Week commencing 15th September 2025

Whole School Updates

Trinity Reading Challenge

Reading continues to be a high priority at Trinity, especially reading for pleasure, which we champion through our Trinity Reading Challenge. We encourage all children to take part in the challenge so that they are exposed to a wide variety of genres, authors and book types.

The challenge books do not need to be read independently - they can be shared with an adult, listened to as an audiobook, or enjoyed through a mixture of approaches. What matters most is that the children access age-appropriate texts and experience their storylines, themes and subject matter.

Whilst we do our best to ensure we have copies of each book in school, we also encourage families to make use of Henley Library to access the texts. At the moment, we are missing a number of books in school, so please do check at home in case you still have any from last year - you will find a note inside the front cover if they are part of the challenge.

As an added incentive:

  • Children who read 10 books will receive a certificate in Celebration Assembly on a Friday
  • Children who read 25 books will receive a certificate and a book voucher
  • Children who read all 50 books will be awarded a special treat

Clubs

A revised 'Clubs' timetable has been posted to our website.  Most clubs still have places available, so if you are interested in booking after-school clubs, please visit www.trinityprimaryschool.org/clubs

Pedestrian safety

It's never too early to start talking to children about road safety and this becomes especially important as the mornings and evenings get darker. Oxford Fire & Rescue Service Road Safety Team produces a guide called FOOTSTEPS, to help parents educate their children. This guide can be found by clicking the link above and also on our school website, at the bottom of the 'Local information' page - www.trinityprimaryschool.org/local

Calendars

When booking holidays, please make sure you have consulted the school calendars, so as to avoid booking holidays in term time. Calendars for both this and next academic year can be found at www.trinityprimaryschool.org/termdates

Harvest Festival

This year we will be celebrating Harvest Festival on Thursday 2nd October with a church service at Trinity Church (2 minutes walk from school).  All parents and carers are invited to join us at the Church at 10:30am. Children will walk to and from church with their class and will sit with their class in the church.

We will be asking for food donations for NOMAD and details about collections will follow in the next few weeks.

Early Years (Reception)

Please see Whole School Updates and diary dates above

Key Stage 1 (Years 1 & 2)

Spare clothes

We’re currently running low on spare underpants, knickers and socks for children who have toileting accidents at school. If you have any spare items (pants, knickers, or socks) that your child has outgrown, we would greatly appreciate any donations. Please send them into school with your child and ask them to give them to Miss Rolfe in Rosen Class.

Reading Challenge books

This week the children have brought home a reading challenge book. Please read / share this book with your child to develop their love or reading.  Once you have finished reading the book together please support your child to complete a book review (worksheet template provided by the school).  Once your child has completed their book review, send it back to school with their challenge book and they will choose a new challenge book to bring home.  A record of the reading challenge books has been stuck on the inside cover of your child's reading record and this will be ticked off/ highlighted as they return their book reviews. As an added incentive:

  • Children who read 10 books will receive a certificate in Celebration Assembly on a Friday
  • Children who read 25 books will receive a certificate and a book voucher
  • Children who read all 50 books will be awarded a special treat

Lower Key Stage 2 (Years 3 & 4)

Doodle Maths

Well done to Coelho who were the top Doodling class this week! Please continue to encourage your child to use Doodle Maths regularly. Just 10 minutes a day has been proven to have a significant impact on a child’s maths attainment.
