TRINITY WEEKLY BULLETIN - Week commencing 17th November 2025

Whole School Updates

Message from Year 6 Reading Champions

We, as Reading Champions, highly prioritise reading at Trinity. As you know, there are fewer books on the 'Reading Journey' shelves than we would ideally like. So far, we have had 36 books donated to the school via our LoveReading4Kids wishlist, but we would love it if you could please donate some more. Every time a book is bought the school gets money back to buy even more and so far we have £77 to spend! Thank you.

Applying for a place in Reception 2026

For any parents with younger siblings who are eligible to start school in September 2026, please remember to apply for your child's school place by 15th January 2026.

Informing us of Absence

If your child is unable to come to school because they are unwell, please inform the school office by emailing office.3254@trinity.oxon.sch.uk and your child's teacher via their class email address. Alternatively, please call 01491 575 887 giving your child's full name (inc surname), class and reason for absence.

Please contact us before 9:00am to avoid it being recorded as an unauthorised absence.

Job Vacancy at Trinity

We are currently recruiting for a one-to-one learning support assistant. If you know anyone who would be interested in joining the staff team, please direct them to the VACANCIES page of our website.

Chess Sets Needed

If anyone has a chess board / chess set that they no longer use, please could you donate it to the school for our new Chess Club? Please drop off at the office.

Anti-bullying Week

Children wore their odd socks with pride symbolising that difference should be celebrated and in assembly we focused on the story 'Today I am strong' by Nadiya Husain and Ella Bailey. Considering how we treat others is woven into our curriculum and is an integral part of our learning environment at Trinity every day. If you are interested in accessing the Parent and Carer Anti Bullying information pack, then please visit our MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLBEING page to view / download it.

Christmas Fair - Message from FOTS

Preparations are well underway for the Christmas Fair, which will take place on Friday 5th December. Each year group will have their own time slot for visiting the fair and there will also be a slot in the afternoon for friends and family to visit.

A group of reception parents are busy organising this much loved event. We would be grateful for donations to sell at the fair. It couldn't be a better time for a pre-Christmas clear out. Please gather your unwanted but good condition teddies and toys (no pre-school age) and please bring them to the school office on Wednesday 26th and Thursday 27th November. We are also hoping for donations of unwanted mugs to make hot chocolate gifts. Please look out for further comms on the WhatsApp groups and future Bulletins.

Swimarathon 2026 - Message from Mrs Evans

Many children will be excited to hear that the Swimarathon at Braywick Leisure Centre, Maidenhead will be on Sunday 11th January 2026. The Swimarathon has been running for several years and is a brilliant opportunity for the children to work as part of a team, while also raising money for The Lions Club and Trinity Primary School.

Those wishing to take part will be asked to meet by the café at approximately 4:30pm on Sunday 11th January. Our time slot to swim is at 5:00pm. All children swimming must be supervised by at least one adult (the adult may observe and does not have to swim with their child). I shall be on poolside for the duration of our swimming time and will need two additional adult helpers to help count laps and ensure the children are taking turns to swim. Children, as a team, will be asked to swim for the duration of 55 minutes. This will be done in the style of a relay, so everyone will swim one length and then have a rest until it is their turn again. If your child is interested but perhaps a little nervous of swimming alone, children are allowed to swim with a parent or carer. They may swim in any style they wish (front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, butterfly etc).

If your child(ren) is able to swim a length, preferably without aids and he/she would like to take part in this event, please CLICK HERE to sign the Google form. There are only enough places for 16 swimmers and I must know who would like to swim before Friday 5th December 2025.

Once I know who would like to participate, I shall give your child(ren) a Swimarathon sponsor form. They will then be encouraged to collect as many sponsors as possible for the rest of December. Please note any siblings of any age would be very welcome as long as they can swim a length of a swimming pool. They are allowed to stop and to hold on to the poolside for a brief rest, but they should not be out of their comfort zone when swimming.

If you are able to stay on the poolside to help count the number of lengths and ensure all children are taking turns to swim, please indicate on the Google form. If you have helped in the past, please indicate this as well.

Henley Fire Station Christmas Open Event

Our local Fire Station will be open from 4:30pm - 7:30pm on Friday 19th December, giving families access to the station to see the fire engine and visit Santa's grotto. Please see flyer at the bottom of this Bulletin for more details.

Lower Key Stage 2 (Years 3 & 4)

Forest School

  • What to wear – please can we remind children that Forest School is not supposed to be a fashion show. Clothes should be plain, dark colours and unbranded. They should be suitable for outdoor activities that you won’t mind getting muddy and wet. PE kit (navy tracksuit bottoms and jumper) are ideal.
  • Cancellation – Unfortunately, Cowell class will not have Forest School on Tuesday 2nd December as Mrs Chilvers is unable to be in school that day. Thank you to whoever volunteered to help on the 2nd December, but you are no longer required.
  • If you have any queries, please visit our FOREST SCHOOL page.

Chess Club

We have a new Chess Club starting on Thursday lunchtimes, open to all KS2 pupils, of any ability. Miss Galton will teach beginner and some Year 6 pupils will set problems / challenges for more experienced players. There is more demand than we currently have chess sets, so if you have an un-used set at home, please consider donating it to school.
